People frequently complain about KDE's lack of visual refinement, and this may be true in some cases, such as with programmes and the default theme. And, while there are many issues there, they are all solved. However, as a desktop, KDE provides by far the most consistent experience, especially when combined with some further user customization.
It took me testing out another Gnome DE to discover how disconnected their desktop appears in real life. Even Gnome header-bar apps, to say nothing of everything else, are inconsistent with one another. It's a complete disaster. The issues with the overall UX are so many that they are unfixable even in theory - even if Gnome wished to address them. KDE provides consistent window decorations, menubars, and tray icons right out of the box. A gtk compatibility theme is also included. The majority of the ideal programmes have a typical user interface and blend in well. And it's much easier to discover QT programmes that can genuinely do any particular task. Apart from browsers, having a desktop that is close to 100 percent QT without sacrificing functionality is rather simple. With GTK apps, this isn't possible. https://router-net.com/ip/192-168-15-1 So, kudos to KDE for nailing it. |
