k3b KDE4 status?

Anyone know what is going on with k3b? Will it be around for KDE 4.3?

I read somewhere that the program starts, but there are problems with the burning process. Sorry, no more details.

I was able to burn cds and make cd images, depending on svn revision and great deal of luck, but 100% crash in dvd related jobs.

Same here, the SVN version is not ready for release. The interface is coming along nicely, but burning isn't reliable as of yet. On my machine I have never been able to start the burning process, it just got stuck at the beginning of the operation, when initialising the burner.

The interface is coming along nicely thanks to Michał Małek, who started directly committing fixes 2 months ago. Previous to that he had sent patches to Sebastian Trueg, who is currently its maintainer, and busy with Nepomuk.

Currently it looks like this. I made the screenshots on version 1.95 compiled from SVN today.

oh thank you a lot!
i hoped for a more radical gui-polishing, though. but that's ok, too :)

Nope. I believe the developer has stated that it will be a direct port of the Qt3 application. That's one of the reasons, apart from the lack of new features, why he doesn't want to call it K4b as well.

I don't think the version has something to do with the name ;)
As 3b stands for "burn, baby, burn". So there will be no more "b" :)

Er. You're right. :-$
I misread the news post on the K3b website. A shame though that there never was a K2b or K1b.

Someone suggested on the dot "burn, baby, burn, better".

As of today, 1-18, the SVN of K3b successfully burned a DVD-R for me. It does exhibit exceptionally high CPU usage during the process though.

I wonder, did someone try to mail Sebastian Trueg and ask what his plans are for k3b?
