Good day.
This is my first time posting in KDE forum. I've been using Plasma for some time and I just have a question. What's the use of Activities if we have already virtual desktop? I want to maximize the usefulness of plasma and trying its feature. What's the use of this? Right now, I'm watching Nico loves Linux video regarding Activities. I thought switching Activities will release some memory use. Well, that's just it. Have a nice day. |

They are not the same thing, really. Virtual desktops organize application widows. Extending or expanding your screen, if you will. Activities organize workflows and....activities. Unique widgets, different menu favorites and panel items, separate wallpapers, etc. And separate sets of virtual desktops, even. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzXPEuoiYZM&t=163s Heck, if you really go into the weeds, and want to deal with Latte Dock, you can even have different panels and/or docks per Activity, even in different layouts, position, and numbers.
No, they won't. Since they have unique settings, they will take more resources. But you can turn them off and on as needed, which will save some when you aren't using them.
