Hi there,
I'm just tested fedora 10 and I'm very impressed! The integration of KDE 4.1.3 is very good and stable. But, now, I'm activated the rawhide-repositories just to see what packages these devel-repos provide! So, I saw there are the KDE 4.2 Beta packages. So, does anybody have tested these beta-packages of KDE 4.2 with Rawhide and could post his/her experiences? Is it stable enough? Thanx in advance! greez w.

I would like to know your experiences too.
Rawhide eats it's babies sometimes, so I'm feared to update

I am using Kubuntu Intrepid. An upgrade to KDE 4.2 beta 1 replaced my KDE 4.1.3
Now as mine is not a production machine, I can take the risk. Yet, I haven't had a single crash, and it seems to be going pretty fine.

I updated last night to KDE 4.2 Beta and I must say that 4.2 from Rawhide is quite stable at the moment - and, there are some good improvements concerning plasma, new plasma-addons, more configurable etc. No crash til now We'll see what will happen but I think KDE is on the right way!

We'll be working to make kde-4.2 (beta/rc) builds available to previous Fedora (9,10) releases via unofficial channels, most likely @ http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/ in the unstable repos. Also, plan on making an unofficial F-10-based kde-4.2 livecd soonish as well.
In the meantime, for now, I'd recommend staying away from rawhide (unless you really know what you're doing). Active and rapid development post-f10 release include a non-trivial amount of breakage, at the moment. |

Hi Rex,
Does this mean that there will not be an official F10 KDE 4.2 update coming up? Should I just go ahead and install the packages from the kde-redhat testing repos or wait to see updates in the official updates-testing? cheers.
