Plasma vs kicker

I am really glad that I can set KDE 4 to use classic menus! Please never take that option out.

One thing I noticed about KDE 4 though, even when set to classic style: I like my panel on the left side of my screen. In KDE 3.5, a started program shows up in the panel as a small horizontal rectangle. In KDE 4, it is a relatively rather large vertical rectangle, using up much more space than necessary. I prefer a program to show up in the panel as it does in KDE 3.5.

Another personal preference is to always see as much as possible in one glance, and I always strive to make things happen with less clicks, not more; and so I dislike unnecessary scrollbars and tabs (hence my dislike for the new menu layout).

I work a lot with older hardware, and as such resolutions often as low as 1024*768. I therefore prefer icons to be as small as possible (i.e. resizable), so as to gain optimal screen usage. The icons on tabs in the new style start menu seem to be automatically sized, leading to a horrible looking start menu when the panel is positioned on the left side and the menu is resized to show as much as possible.

Also, I would prefer not to have a countdown timer to shutdown/logout/restart after I already clicked that's what I wanted to do. Seems redundant.

I guess this takes care of most of my issues with KDE 4 that are not mentioned in other posts (or not that I found, at least).

Thanks for your attention, and I sure DO appreciate all your hard work!
