Change ZUI based on user's actions

Fri Jan 09, 2009 5:57 pm
I was thinking that it might be an interesting idea to have the option of chaning the ZUI view based on what the user is doing.

For example, if I set up a ZUI that had Plasmoids configured to help me do sound/music editing, when I happen to launch Audacity from the main menu, KDE automatically switches to the ZUI that applies (which I would have previously specified). Kind of like a "ZUI action-on" setting or some such thing that states, "go to this ZUI when this application/hot-key/etc is activated".

You mean something like this? Plasma, Context and Nepomuk. :)

Yeah... that's sort of what I was thinking about. Although, I didn't think I was envisioning something that would have been as elaborate (or "smart") as what Aaron was describing.
