I am pretty sure this worked on first install. I am using KDE4.1 and trying to access dolphin as root. When I try kdesudo dolphin or sudo su root I get a message in dolphin, could not start process, cannot talk to klauncher.
I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not or if there is another way to access dolphin as root. Thanks |

this has been previously posted and a bug has been submitted, there is a work around published on the the bug page and maybe somewhere here

Try:
sudo su - root Notice the extra - after su. This is a D-Bus issue I think. |

Hi,
I found a solution to this problem today and to some other problems (in kubuntu). 1. I made a small script witch startes when kde starts:
2. I copied the dolphin entree in the kde-menueditor and made the copy start: kdesu dolphin %i -caption "%c" %u That's it. I can now start dolphin as root. I also had this problem when starting for example kate from dolphin, it would say: "KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/kate' ". This problem is now solved to. ![]() CarrotNL ![]() |
