The problem with Konqueror (yes, I've filled in the survey) is that it tries to do so many different things that inevitably each function is performed better by a program that's specific to its own niche. Apart from its convenient CD-ripping function, I can't think of a single thing it does that I can't do better with other programs (or at least anything I KNOW it does).

The greatest thing about using Konqueror for research is that I can use it both to locate something on the Internet and something on my hard disk without having to waste time loading a different application every time. I have yet to locate a site which I might want to access for research (and I use sites across the world and in different languages) which Konqueror will not handle.

For an academic researcher, there is nothing to beat Konqueror.

I love it also, for somehow similar reason. When developing a new website, i find really useful to have a lot of different split views in the same window. Most of the time I have a view that displays a FTP directory, one other displaying a local direcotry, and two larger views displaying the web page I'm working on and some documentation.

With firefox I need to have two windows or two tabs and some other window for the file manager (for example, a split view dolphin). It's not as confortable as konqueror.

So the thing I love of konqueror is that is light, fast, and still very configurable by the user.

gerlos
