According to http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/ ... _KDE_4.2.3

4.2.3 should be released on the 6th of may.

Just under a week to wait if it's on schedule. :shade:

This week's operating systems (subject to change)

Hi,

KDE 4.2.3 tagging is scheduled for tomorrow around 23:59 UTC. Pleasemake sure
that your fixes are included and backported to 4.2 branch until then.

If there are outstanding bugs that must be fixed before 4.2.3, please tag them
with the "kde-4.2.3-blocker" keyword in bugzillaand I'll review the list.

Thanks,
Dirk

The official tarballs are not supposed to be used by end users or developers, only distributors. Developers use SVN and end users use their distribution's packages.

For your own safety it is recommended that you wait. If you want to use the latest packages ASAP in OpenSuSE I believe they have a "factory" or testing repository for that.

A lot of end users like building from sources, and the tarballs are more convenient than SVN. The official tarballs are not released to the public yet, but when they are, I see no moral or ethical problem with any end user utilizing them.

It's out now. Let's make a thread to discuss it, shall we? It's a shame the bugfix releases don't make it to the announcements section of the forum!

The openSUSE build service will likely already have 4.2.3 packages. You should be able to find the tarballs on the KDE FTP server: ftp://ftp.kde.org

KDE Sysadmin
