I don't know if these situations are allready known or not, so here goes:
1) it seems the plasma process eats a lot of memory: it starts with about 20Mb alocated RAM, but it grows... after 4 ou 5 days it can be allocating 500Mb of RAM. a session restart solves this situation, but it is anoying. 2) kalarm can't repeat sounds, the option is there, but it does not repeat the sound, just play it once and stops... this situation has stop me from using it as my wakeup alarme in the morning. 3) knode can't save news posts to local folders any more, it use to be done by draging, but looks like the feature is not even implemented, however, it still has the "create new folder" feature... for what? 4) kadressbook makes silly questions every time we select a contact that has more than one email adress... it loops several times asking witch adress? now a few things i miss from kde3.5 and i wish they came back: 1) panel transparency: i can't put panels invisible any more. 2) pager thumbnails: i would like to see a thumbnail of it is in a given virtual deskop on the pager 3) hability to have a diferente wallpaper in each virtual desktop. hope my post will help kde developers improving kde, and keep up with the good work. If you want these things mentioned rectified you should file bug reports (or wish list items) on at https://bugs.kde.org/. You'll also be able to see if there are similar requests already in the system.

Known bug, will be fixed in 4.2.3. Some distributors might even have updated 4.2.2 packages. Cheers, _

Quite a few people report this: it looks like at least one cause of increasing memory usage has been found, though- http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2009/04/plas ... usage.html
1) Is possible already, but *only* if you have composite enabled: A software fallback has been (last time I checked) veto'd by the Plasma devs as it is quite an ugly hack. 2) This will also require compositing, but I'm not sure if it's implemented. 3) This is definitely planned, and I think it will be available in 4.3 - but don't quote me on that ![]()
