Just that, I have seen in the calendar that the first beta of 4.3 will be released in May 12. so, I'm anxious to try it.

Ah, ok.

I was just going by the version quoted in the "about KDE" dialog window.

K Desktop Environment
Version 4.2.85 (KDE 4.2.85 (KDE 4.3 Beta1)) "release 2.1"

The factory repo' seems to contain a slightly older build
kdebase4 is at 4.2.3-81.2

Maybe someone with more info could enlighten us?

factory is still the 4.2 series, unstable is probably an alpha (?) of 4.3 - when 4.3beta1 is officially released there should be an announcemnt and I haven't seen one as of yet.

What's your experience with unstable?

Pretty good so far, there have been a couple of little issues/bugs but that goes with using that repo' I suppose.

I originally tried it out because my machine is getting a little old and I thought the tweaks and improvements in QT4.5 may help speed things up a bit (they did :-D )

The only major problem so far has been the recent problem with plasma and the Kaffeine .desktop file, I got round it be uninstalling kaffeine for a few days until the repo's were updated.

All in all I think 4.3 is going to be even more amazing than the 4.2 series.

This update from this morning feels pretty solid and the air plasma theme is simply beautiful.

Just tried the "KDE Four Live" image and there is no Air theme :( Isn't it supposed to be available with KDE 4.3? Thats the main thing I want to check out, I hope its just that image which doesn't have it...

edit: ok had to add some unstable/factory/community opensuse repo and install the plasma-theme-air package but its just the plasma theme (panel, widgets), i dont see air window decorations/style etc...
