any byt why most of the devs and some users dont have (or dont notice) the issue ?

(except maybe that they use newer computers)

how to find what place (binary file / function name) exactly in kde causes the problem ?

The only way to discover the slowness would be to run utilities such as valgrind over central applications such as KWin and Plasma, which would be able to point out functions that are called excessively or are expensive to execute. This however requires machines which are heavily resourced since otherwise the system would be drawn to a halt just starting them up.

Another good start.
Ash, I know I am repeating myself, but please post here some links to bug reports that show clear concrete stuff. If you go the hard way and point the inefficient functions, even better.

I would say it's much better spent time than continuing on this big thread. Until now I didn't see any developer saying he fixed a slowness you complained about. The best you got here is some X11 conf hacks (while I am grateful that I could delete the source of headaches that xorg.conf is).

I'm getting awesome performance on Sidux with KDE 4.2.4. A couple of my favorite plasmoids don't work right (including the Twitter plasmoid) but the robust speed and responsiveness make me think it's worth it. That's why they invested browsers, right?

Having just moved from GNOME...I think KDE's performance is breathtaking.

Honestly, I didnt think it'd be possible to have this much beauty without melting my machine.

My old system had, on many occasions, overheated, causing my CPU to go into thermal cutoff. Now it dosent!

Joy!

(Please note, the above post is not intended to start THAT old war, just showing my gratitude for stopping my computer melting my desk)
