Konqi is still there. Just look under Help -> About KDE.[hr]

KDE 4 did that, but the feature seems lost since KDE 4.1 :(

It is there. It seems to be missing in trunk/ though, or it has no configuration GUI yet.

I am running the KDE 4.1.2 opensuse 11.0 packages and have slideshow functionality. i don't know about being random, but it can definitely pick a wallpaper from a set of folders and have it change every x seconds / minutes / hours.

Wallpaper are handled by plugins, so if there is interest I think that new plugins will come out once KDE 4.2 is out, for different kinds of wallpapers. In trunk there is already an alternative wallpaper plugin that generates Mandelbrot fractals.

Yeah, but it's not random at all, and it doesn't scan folders recursively ;)

I miss k3b and konversation, hope they get in time for 4.2 ;D
as for run command in panel, I get used to alt = f2, for me it's now way better than the run applet.

A stopper for me is the "menubar on top (Macintosh style)". I find it really confortable, despite it would be far better if when maximizing a window, the heigth of the menubar equals that of the window border + title bar, it covered the titlebar, and reduced on the right hand to allow the windows buttons to be shown.

Other things I miss a lot are the "copy to" and "move to" context menu for dolphin, and the file browser (tree view) of kate.

Ya but I want MORE KONQI! I want him dancing around my desktop and breathing fire on stuff.

No seriously, I use alt-f2 a lot too, but it was nice to have a command line in the panel. I am hoping someone builds this plasmoid for 4.2. If not, maybe when the python plasma bindings get sorted I'll try to write it myself.

I wish plasmoids could be resized from any corner, not just the upper right and left, though I guess that's OT since we didn't have plasmoids in 3.x.

Which version are you using? Or maybe Suse backported it...my version of Dolphin (KDE 4.1.2.) has those context menus available, although if my memory serves me correctly you need to enter "Configure Dolphin..." to turn them on.

The thing I personally miss the most is a multi-row taskmanager (and yes, I do know it's due for 4.2. so I can wait a bit longer). And Kaquarium ;)

As far as the main desktop goes, I can't really complain. The features I used 3.x are available, and I have some extra supernice features I didn't have before. I'm sure I will continue to be pleasantly surprised :) As for missing things...I mostly hope for more of my favorite 3.x apps to be ported and be in a usable state.

I've never looked for them at the dolphin settings. It's great to have this menus back! Thanks a lot ^_^

never used dual head. Nevertheless, that issue seems fixable (menu following apps)

Isn't this uncomfortable? I set the shortcut to Alt+Space as it was with Katapult in KDE 3 times. No need to stretch the hand :)

I usually just use two hands to hit alt-f2. :P

I'm pretty much pleased with KDE 4 so far, but one thing that just bugs me is the plasmoid resizing. It's like it all just shrinks and squashes unnecessarily. It's annoying when I want to just extend one edge out a bit longer, and I end up squashing the whole thing. I mean, seriously, we don't see programs like GIMP making us squash our selection with the resize tool.
I personally don't really like/use kickoff that much, I think it really can be improved in terms of UI. Alt-F2 is what I use all the time now.
