The accesibility angle

Wed Jun 10, 2009 7:01 am
I got in a big row in one of the forums when a couple of guys googled some of my rants in here, and accused me of being a paid troll with the agenda of destroying KDE4.

Well, anybody who has been reading my posts and paying attention probably already knows that what I am is a person with significant mental health issues. I don't think I've tried to hide that, I've sort of implied that, but I've never actually said it before. Legally, I'm considered disabled. I get social security, and free drugs. When your mind constantly shifts out from under you, life can be pretty frustrating, and the prospect of your computer shifting out from under you is more jarring than you might expect. In terms of disruption stress and mental anguish, it's been roughly the equivalent of a major relationship breakup, although I never came out a breakup with anything so useful as a really awesome desktop!

It's three in the morning, I may have more to say about this. But I just want to say right now that I'm not complaining, although it may seem like complaining is all I've done. I consider it to be my contribution to the most important thing I've ever been a part of.. Helping people with mental problems though technical changes is an important concern that will probably become more important in the future. There may be some useful information buried in my rants, and maybe next time I'll be able to use my experence to smooth the way for others.

I'm proud to be a part of this, even an annoying part. Whether historians ever get around to acknowleding it, I think that KDE4 may be as important to the history of communication as the Gutenberg Bible. I really do believe that. Of course, I'm... you know... crazy...:-P.
