I have used Gnome for quite a few years. I test releases for LinuxMint, one of the releases I test happens to be a KDE Community Edition. The maintainer chose KDE 4.2.4 as the version of KDE to best provide stability for this release. The quality of KDE 4.2.4 has impressed me so much that I am now running the Mint KDE CE on my main machine.

KDE 4.2.4 is quick and stable! The look is modern and very pleasing to the eyes. KDE is clearly headed in the right direction! People that are new to Linux certainly will appreciate the the level of detail that has gone into KDE 4, even the icons and dialogue boxes show great attention to detail. KDE 4.2.4 is very responsive and has ran error free on my machine for some time now.
