Alternative DE to kde 3.5

Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:19 am
Since KDE 3.5 is slowly dying I am beginning to look for my next DE.
I have been playing around with kde 4, and it looks greate but there is a problem with duel head support (viewtopic.php?f=66&t=12180&start=0 ) that makes it un usedable for my use.
I have also tried to play with XFCE but the file there does not support sftp so I cannot browse files remolty as I would like

So I would like yo hear from you. What do you think that can replace KDE 3.5 for my?

Moved to discussions & opinions. Xinerama is a form of multi screen which is supported under KDE 4.

Go go.

As for an alternative, I can't recommend one as I don't know how well they support dual head. The natural answer should be Gnome, or you could give LXDE a try. Personally I would go with ash's suggestion as kde3 still works good for me (switched to kde4 series just recently).
