Still using KDE3 for everyday use. I am testing KDE4 in virtualbox. I will make the switch probably when 4.2 goes stable.

Seriously, why wasn't this turned into a poll?? But okay, we can also make the longest thread of the world out of it....
![]() BTW, using 4.1 every day. |

I'm running kde 4.1.2 and I love it, I have been running kde4 ever since 4.0 and are stille some bugs (short commings) but nothing one can handle via bash.
I must say that I'm impressed with the speed with which KDE4 has developed....Keep it up, it's a great job. |

I never used 3.5 much (only for a couple months or so) until I switched to 4.0, then 4.1, 4.1.1, and now I use 4.1.2. I see 4 as being the future and that's where I'm putting my bets
![]() Please turn this into a poll!

KDE 3 at work but I have KDE 3 and 4 installed at home. I must admit I don't really use either at home though since I mainly just need a window manager (awesome wm at the moment).

I am using KDE4.1.2 on laptop & desktop. I believe it will only get better and the developers are doing a really good job.

I'm using 3.5.*. I looked into 4.0, didn't really like what I saw, and went straight back. Then did the same for 4.1.
Thinking about it, I think my problems are mostly superficial. I might be a minority, but I *love* the look and feel of 3.5, especially the kicker (which I think is the best feature of any OS I've ever used). When I find that I can't set up 4.0 exactly the same way, I don't feel any desire to switch. I'm guess I'm just getting old or something, but it there was some way of making 4.* look more like 3.5.*, it would soften the migration curve. I don't want to criticize all the hard work that went into the new version, but I liked the old version so much I don't want to let it go. |

I use KDE 3.5 because it's more keyboard friendly than KDE 4.

I'm still using KDE 3.5.10 and I have SVN version for testing and monitoring the progress.
The reasons why I stay with KDE3 despite I really like very new software: 1) Some applications are missing (k3b, amarok) and I don't want to have kde3 libraries when I decide to switch. 2) KDE4 is slower. This is my observation and feeling. I didn't do any measurement. But KDE3 + Compiz is very fast on my system while KDE4 + accelerated kwin is quite slow (NVidia 7600GS). And for example kickoff needs very long time to appear after clicking on the icon. I don't know why but Lancelot is maybe even worse. Comparing to menu in KDE3, this is disaster. But even without compositing KDE4 seem to be noticeably slower on my system. 3) Konqueror is much slower comparing to KDE3 and the rendering is worse 4) There is no nice style for KDE4. I like QtCurve in KDE3 as it unifies desktop (Gnome applications look the same) and Tango icons and it looks very consistent. Yes, there is QtCure for KDE4 and all widgets are too big with this theme in KDE4 and it doesn't look as nice as in KDE3. The best in terms of widget size is probably Skulpture but I don't like it too much ![]() 5) Nice small features like Quicklauncher Applet are missing On the other hand I can say that stability wouldn't be problem for me.

I'm using KDE 4.1 on my desktop machine at work (Kubuntu Hardy). At home the wife and kids are sticking with 3.5, because it does what they need and they aren't interested in a paradigm shift (or bugs).
I've been on 4.1 for a couple weeks, I figure you haven't given a DE a fair shake if you haven't used it for a couple months, so I'm trying to acclimate. Still missing some features, and not sure I'm getting any real benefit from the switch apart from prettier graphics. Oh yea, my laptop uses xfce4. Just because I want to be well-rounded.
