in kde3 or kde4? what do you mean by full time?
Moi - I try to use it in kde4 as my only file manager but it's way too not ready for prime time as I have problems with copy&paste, drag&drop, toolbar settings and missed functionality (no integrated "find file", no folder filter, no previews, missing some service menus like "copy path"). For me the kde3.5.x version is just so much more functional and stable nd some times I just need to revert to it to get something done - yeah I know i just ranted. |

Since this topis is in Internet & Network I guess Zayed is probably asking about using Konqueror as web browser, and not as filemanager.
Well I use Konqueror almost all the time. The only time I open Firefox is when I feel like using Stumble Upon. As far as I know there is still no SU addon for Konqueror 4. ![]() ![]() |

Only for a file manager.

Neither as File manager nor as browser. Dolphin and Firefox are respectively better for my needs.

Yes I do, although I keep Opera around for rare cases when I experience technical problems with a web page in Konqueror. This happens very seldom these days though.

I always kept Firefox around to handle web pages that Konqueror was too picky for, but when KDE4 Konqueror asked after a crash "Restore session?" I said "I'm never going to have to use Firefox again!" It's true that I'm not doing much file management at the moment, so I haven't tried that extensively yet, but I do know that I dislike Dolphin so much that I'm definitely not going to use *that*.
So, yes, unless there still are web pages that Firefox handles better, and of course I also use Firefox to test and optimise my own pages.

Exactly !! I make this poll to see if users really have a good web experience or not. Myself, I do not use konqueror at all. That is because it has a lot of bugs in the RTL mode + there is no support tinyMCE and gmail + it is crash when I use it to post story in my drupal site. |

Konqueror is the only graphical browser that I really use, although I do have Firefox and Opera installed as well.
If I need a text only browser, either for speed or if I don't have X started, I'll use elinks.

I don't use konqueror at all. Firefox is my usual browser.

I use Konqueror all the time both as a file manager and a web browser; the web shortcuts make it so easy to swap between modes. I only use Firefox for a limited number of sites and the BBC iPlayer which does not work reliably in Konqueror.
For my work as a researcher, the separation of Dolphin and Konqueror is a hindrance not at help but I can understand that people whose work is predominantly filesystem based or web based may benefit from the separation.

I would really like to use Konqueror, instead of Iceweasel/Firefox, because of its better visual integration, nice form widgets and faster page rendering.
But two major things are keeping me away from Konqueror, being: certain websites still don't render correctly (Google Maps for example, or is that only me?) and I would love to view RSS feeds just in my browser, instead of using a separate app (something along the lines of "Feed Sidebar" would be really nice). If Konqueror reaches the point of rendering websites like Safari/WebKit I might reconsider and ditch Iceweasel as my main browser. [size=x-small]Now I hope somebody is going to reply and say my Konqueror settings must be set horribly wrong, so I can use at as my main browser after all. ![]()

At home i use only konqueror, except on occasions when sites are not really usable which is very rarely. At work/for web developing i use firefox which has a bunch of good extensions supporting it.

I use Konq as a file manager, (S)FTP client, and sometimes as a web browser, but when I'm developing websites (which is how I make a living) I use Firefox.
Partly because JS and CSS support is better in FF, partly because of the Web Developer Toolbar and Firebug plugins for FF, partly because I haven't managed to get Konq to display Flash yet, and partly because some sites use Javascripts with user agent checks that don't include Konq (I know scripts shouldn't check the user agent, but I'm not the only web developer in the world...). |
