I am not sure, if that really needs to be discussed again... KHTML will stay as long as people are working on it. There are many alternatives out there, to name rekonq as one of those. Also, in current konqueror you can set it to use webkit, so no need to deprecate anything.
EDIT: just found out you can't set webkit in konq anymore... still, KHTML is working fine for quite some people. |

![]() I for myself am using it and even flash is working fine. It even runs faster than firefox. Though i am not using x64, and i have something in the back of my head about problems with x64 flash plugin, but can't remember exactly. |

Who still uses Konqueror as a filemanager? lol And yeah, on x86 the Flash problems are pretty minor. Like not being able to add notations to video stuff on YouTube, or being able to turn the notation editor off when watching one of your own videos. But if you try it on x64 half the time the Flash controls for videos, and I'm talking about pretty much any Flash based videos, won't work about 50% of the freaking time. Right now I'm listening to a music video on YouTube, but instead of being able to listen to it a couple of times over by pressing the play button, I have to refresh the page because the button doesn't work >___<. And, how do I enable video plugins in Konqueror like I can in Firefox with totem-mozilla/gecko-mediaplayer? |

ohoh, don't say that too loud here, i don't want new flames ![]() Anyway, using it as FM is mostly the same like in dolphin.
Never tested it, but you can set up konqueror to search for existing plugins in the mozilla home folder. So you _should_ be able to use them just like in FF. |

Huh? Doesn't it need an embeddable media player though? |

Exactly. Then it would use the same like FF does. |

There have been a lot of discussions recently about what to do about konqueror. KHTML cannot be removed during the lifetime of KDE4 for compatibility reasons. But webkit, as it stands now, cannot work as well as KHTML in konqueror because of KHTML-specific hacks in the konqueror code. And rekonq and arora do not have all of the features of konqueror yet (and vice versus). Plus, since KDE is an open-source project handled by volunteers, you can't force people to switch working from khtml to webkit or from konqueror to rekong or arora.

I use Konqueror all the time as both browser and file manager; there are several things it can do that Dolphin cannot and, as I am still on a 32-bit system, I haven't had any of the problems with Flash etc. which works fine. Very occasionally I come across a non-compliant website but so rarely that it doesn't motivate me to change - and I access sites across the world daily.
Though there are specific features of Firefox that meet the needs of some users better than Konqueror does, it also has several downsides in the way it handles passwords, saving files and downloads compared with Konqueror.
