mplayer... it comes with all the codecs, and you can run it from the command line

Firefox, mostly because flashplayer is easier to get, and I like some of the plugins

Gthumb... I just like the interface better than the KDE options.

- Firefox, although I try Konqueror with WebKit support and is promising. (I have a problem with KHTML in a WEB basic to me: my bank ( https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134388 ))
- Quanta - not replacement available

Filezilla (KFTPgrabber is not stable)
Gimp (I cant make animated gifs with Krita)
Openoffice (Koffice is not very usable)
Brasero (K3B unfinished port)

Firefox: The customization is unbeatable and it does render most websites correctly,
I do also have Firefox-qt and I will check the Konqueror with WebKit and hoping that somewhere in the future there will be an ability to add plasmoids to Konqueror - then I'll change.
MPlayer / Mencoder / KMpalyer: Mostly because of it can be embedded into Firefox. I needed the mencoder for my Screencast kourse.
VLC: when everything else fails.
KRecordmydesktop: for Kourse2 it's KDE3 app at least it looks like it, and the file that is produced by KWin recorder is not usable with any player.
K3B: not yet ported
Amarok1.4: I still have it even though I also have the Amarok2.
Fillezilla: before I knew that Konqueror can do everything that Fillezilla can, well almost...
OpenOffice: Last time I tired KOffice it didn't read .doc files, and I'm used to it. But The KDEmod are promising a very powerful mod for it, so I'll see where that will lead (I'm triple booting: Kubuntu/ Chakra (Arch with KDEmod by default) / Windows 7).
I did use Wine, but since last reinstall I didn't install it yet.
maybe something else but forgot it,which means that I don't use it that often.

I just start typing when I use a console. What features are missing in the KDE 4 version?

There were a whole lot of schema options for Konsole for KDE3 that aren't available for KDE4, and I guess I sort of miss them, though I use KDE 4.2, and really like they grey Konsole window.

You used to be able to get Konsole to generate random colors, which looked great, and was actually helpful in keeping several open windows straight in your mind. You can get an idea of what they looked like from my Twitter Homepage.

You could also insert background images, and assign different color schemes. It was all very cool, but all very unnecessary.

There are really two big reasons why I stopped complaining and moved from KDE3 to KDE4. The first is that I finally came to appreciate Dolphin. The second is that KDE4.2 shows a vast improvement in the ability to set up keyboard shortcuts. The action input interface has been improved and fixed ...in the past, it hasn't really worked at all! Also, keyboard shortcuts can also be set at the configuration dialogue of many of the applications themselves. This is what really matters to me. Different color konsole windows are a nice touch, but they don't influence my desktop choice.

kopete 3.5.10

it can be configured to be without any panels and bars - just window frame wih contact list or textboxes inside

amarok fast forward

amarok 2 inrterface and functionality suck

kaffeine

dragon player's usability is in the gnome sense of the word

actually all what i really need from kde 4 is plasma. port it to kde 3 and i say bye to kde 4

Kaffeine for KDE 4 is still in development in Playground. Dragon player is designed to be a basic player, more for DVD's, etc.

i use:

opera(always thought it is one the best browser out there)
openoffice (compatibility)
kmess (the best integrated msn messenger clone, would like something complete as amsn, but in the kde way, i just hate that tk tcl interface)
thunderbird (a little more powerful than kmail, and i like more the filter config)
smplayer (i think that vlc is becoming too much windows based)
yast (it's just unique)
gimp (the most powerful open out there)
inkscape
k3b
skype

i think would be a very good thing to insert kmess in the kde work, cause a multiclient protocol, is good, but doesn't have all

Kasbar.
It's so much better than the taskbar in KDE3 or KDE4 and fits into the way I have my desktop nicely.

The only downside of using it is that it no longer integrates into a panel, so some windows end up appearing behind it. But it's still better than any alternative.

Firefox. I work as web programist, so i must use Firebug, sometimes SEOQuake plugins, and also Firefox is most popular webbrowser, so when doing something with CSS, most important thing is how it will look on FF
Wicd. It is best wireless manager for me.

Qt4 (but not KDE):
VirtualBox
Kadu
SMplayer

Dario Freddi is working on a Wicd Solid Backend, which he hopes to merge in for KDE 4.3. With this Wicd users of KDE 4 will be able to manage their networking with KDE 4 ( Once the Network Management plasmoid is freed of its network manager dependencies )
