What non-kde4 apps are your standards - and why not use a kde4 app.?

This is sort of the reverse of the "what are your 24/7 kde apps" thread where the discussion is what are your 24/7 apps that aren't kde(4) because they're not complete or ready enough or other reason.

Knode 3.5.x - I try to use 4.1.2 but can't let it run constantly because it just eats too much ram (there's a massive memory leak). Plus scoring doesn't work for me it crahes the app.

Kde3 panel - in conjuction with the plasma panel (yes I run 2) because the applets are less cpu intensive and more configurable and it has TastyMenu and Kima

Pan - Klibido has a weak tabbed interface and appears dead in the water

Konqueror 3.5.9 - 4.1.2 version is still missing too much (though I keep it opened and am trying to use it primarily)

Opera (for mail, newsfeeds and browsing) - personal preference, if I needed a more comple email client I'd use Kmail but nothing does virtual folders for mail and feeds better.

Gnormalize - best of breed

That would be:

- Iceweasel
- GIMP
- Inkscape
- Scribus
- Klibido
- Transmission (because KTorrent is doing wacky things to my Internet connection)
- Crossover Games
- gFTP (have to migrate to KFTPGrabber soon, I know)
- VirtualBox
- Synaptic.

 • Firefox (although I try from time to time to switch to Konqueror)
 • Gimp (very seldomly only - will try Krita when KOffice is stable)
 • OpenOffice (I'm looking forward to a stable KOffice for KDE4... ,-))
 • VirtualBox - at least it's a Qt application to launch my internet explorer ,-)
 • Eclipse - perhaps I will switch to KDevelop?
 • QDevelop - I'm learning Qt right now to get a base for future KDE development... ,-))
but that's all, I think. With KDE4.1 I left my long year mail client, Evolution, behind and don't regret it.

OpenOffice
Firefox
Thunderbird (think 'HTML mail')
Skype
Google Desktop Search
Gimp
Aptana (well, only just. Since Quanta seems to be on a dead track, I am trying to switch to Aptana)
VMWare server (company tool)
Adobe reader

Edit,
forgot to mention why not KDE apps
- OpenOffice: supports MS Office way better, Impress is ahead of kpresenter
- Firefox. It is faster and more stable than Konqueror, has better rendering and extensions
- Thunderbird: already explained this. HTML support in Kmail is just very poor
- Skype: sorry, required for work
- Google Desktop: faster and more stable than Beagle / Kerry
- Gimp: maybe I need to check out Krita in the new 2.0 version
- Aptana: explained that as well. Please please, can someone put extra effort in Quanta??
- Adobe reader: better rendering than Kpdf. Have not yet fully tested Okular yet.

EDIT: oh yeah, and why not kde apps:
firefox -- in our sadly non-standard web, it seems to render some things better. Plus I have a lot of extensions I like, and I'm not clear on if flash works in konq now ( I suppose I should test the new konq)
pidgin -- habit really
synaptic -- adept crashes on me, hate the interface
thunderbird -- I get better performance from spam filtering on thunderbird than using plugins with kmail. I use kmail on my work desktop, but every time I try to switch on my laptop the mailbox ends up corrupted. Somehow kmail seems more unweildy.
openoffice.org -- I like the ideas I see in koffice, but I've never had a version that didn't crash under normal use. Unfortunately, ODF files from koffice don't open right in openoffice and vice versa. And ms office support is not usable (pictures in word docs just vanish!)
GIMP -- What can you say, it's GIMP. Why not krita? see my comments under openoffice
emacs -- what can ever replace emacs? Maybe we need a QT4 frontend for emacs. Lord knows it could use a facelift.

Gimp -- rarely,
wine - I have some games I like
OO3 -- however I noticed that I like writing documents in html with kate more :)
Firefox -- probably old habit
Mplayer -- runs everything
xmms -- on laptop only, as it has less than 256 MB RAM
xterm -- same reason
k3b -- kde3 version is installed and I still like it :)
icewm-lite -- because kwin-kde4 makes games unplayable with less than 3 fps in glxgears.
