Reproducible. The two menus are actually two different widgets - when you switch it replaces one with the other. From this point of view, it's not surprising that the settings are forgotten. Of course the regular user doesn't think like this, so I think a bug report would be in order to see what the developers say. Could you please post links to all bugs you report?
Or until kbuildsycoca4 runs the next time, I would guess.

Alright, sent in some bugs:
1. (New start menu) Style issue. 2. (Start menu requires a click-n-hold to activate.) I guess this is just my computer, unless anyone else has this problem... 3. (Up arrow broke) Fixed now, my fault. 4. 5. (No good styles available) Not really a bug, I guess. I've got a better style now; after I spend some time customizing it, it should be in better shape. 6. (Icons kde and kde-windows appear scrambled.) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211282 7. (KDE Classic Mouse theme changes back to default theme after a while.) Known bug, on bugzilla, likely Debian's fault. 8. (Quicklist) Not obvious, but still possible. 9. (Preview window catches double-click) Sounds like it's already known. 10. (KWrite, New/Open/Save/Save As/Undo/Redo buttons are all using generic icons.) Not sure what's up with this, but it's unlikely to be KDE's fault. Is anyone else having this problem? 11. (If you click on a sub-menu *just* as it opens, it flashes once, then refuses to open.) Sounds like just my computer. Anyone else with this problem? 12. (No way to turn all sound notifications off with one button. Have to manually go through and turn each one off individually.) But you only need to do this once! Existing bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206070 13. (No option for switching to various look-n-feels.) I assume this is already a known issue. 14. (Refreshing issues.) Video card's fault 15. (Ctrl+Alt+@) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211278 16. (login screen accessability) Don't want to track down who's fault this is. 17. (Login manager admin) Debian's fault. 18. 19. 20. (root terminal) Debian's fault. 21. (Desktop settings->Appearance->Desktop Activity->Type.) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211279 22. (mouse wheel on empty desktop) Already known. 23. (Switching Application launcher style) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211280 24. (favorites icons) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211283 I'm done with adding bugs from this batch, if anyone else wants to grab any I missed, I won't stop you. |

Good job. Very constructive, thank you.
I'm still not sure about 12. In the screenshot in the bug report, do you see the "Player Settings" tab at the top? You can use that to disable sound entirely.

I would prefer this be fixed with some kind of sound scheme, like the kind Windows had since (95? 3.1?) This also gives the ability to (eg) easily turn off all but one sound, or have seprate schemes for work and home. |
