New b

Tue Nov 24, 2009 10:36 am
hey can anybody direct me to so nice forums on this site showing me how to use my new os (kde 4.*) I jumped into this from vista and I love it. The down side is I don't know anything, any help is welcomed. At the moment anything I minimise disappears trying to get my java up and running (just the environment at the moment) things like that.

Re: New b  Topic is solved

First - welcome. One thing is important to know from the start - KDE4 is changing so rapidly that it helps if you can always say which version of anything you are using. I see that you are a kubuntu user - we have plenty of people here that use kubuntu, so there should always be help at hand. For general introductions, try some of the pages at http://userbase.kde.org. For specific problems, try to always keep one topic in the forum to ask about one particular problem. We don't mind how many topics you start, but keeping your questions as separate topics makes it much easier to help you.

I'd suggest that you start a new thread now, making sure that the subject clearly says what problem you are addressing. I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Ok any thing that I minimize dose not have a little box at the bottom, its hard to undo what I did because I don't know what happened. I pressed the right trigger and pushed a button and that happened. I have went back to where I think Something was unchecked and messed with everything

So it was not just Java. Something like this might have happened:

Now you just jave to add the task manager back like this:

(search for task manager)

Thank you so much the videos helped me so much, they answer many of my questions. Ok so I will try again now that I have a better understanding, when I minimise my windows they do not show up on the panel like they use too they disappear into my screen so I have to press Esc+Ctrl to see all running task and open them that way. Is there a widget that I am over looking? I also got my java to work now I can program, thanks annew and dpalacio you are life savers

The windows show in the "Task Manager" I told you about in the previous post. It is a widget as well that you can add/remove in the panel.

connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));
