After a few days using KDE 4.4 Beta 1, openSUSE 11.1 packages, this was my personal opinion:

The Good
1) Windows grouping
Simple amazing :D. Off course needs more work, I don't known how to group using only mouse and things like group a windows an a dialog has no sense but, when it's mature, would be an amazing feature.
2) New nepomuk tools
At last seems that nepomuk is aproaching to basic users, the problem is that all this tools crash like hell doing basic task so I wonder, is so difficult develop a program using C++ that don't crash?

The Bad
1) Akonadi
Force users to run Akonadi to manage their contacts is the worst. You can simply can launch "System Activity" and seed how many resources Akonadi was eating to manage your contacts. If things don't do better in stable version I will stop using Kontact and move all my home accounts too web like I do in my job.
2) The new "Add widget" Plasma interface
Call me classic but I prefer the old one and, if you add that there is plenty of bugs, the change is not for good. I assume that these bugs will be fixed in the stable version.
3) kio_nepomuk
Seems to be totally broken in beta 1.

The weird
1) Remote Widgets' Policies
So, I can't put an Amarok widget in my desktop but I can run a widget in other computers desktop!. Can someone explain the usefulness of this?

Feelings
In general, system was a little more unstable than KDE 4.3 but in a Beta this is logical and, the important thing, is that is usable in daily basics (I don't use Konqueror so I don't test it).
Seems to be many internal changes between KDE 4.3 and KDE 4.4 so this version, when will be released, don't be the rock solid one. It is already known which will be the stable version of KDE 4?

Well, just wait for the STABLE 4.4 release ;) Still 2 months to go, to polish and fix stuff.

+1 side scrolling is a bad idea on top of that I really can't figure out how to remove a widget like it could be done before, this can be problematic for some widget because eg. my favorite widget, Ihatethecashew is broken on kde4.4 (please fix it!!!) it has no interface so I couldn't remove it anymore either other than by uninstalling it completely.

A good point, I don't see this and I think that is important because is a lost of functionality. You must report this problem.

(and quickly marked as wish instead of the clear regression that this is...)

Seems like I'm on the other end here, who loves the new Add Widget interface. I agree though that a bite more options to configure it (data displayed, options for vertical and grid layout) would make it even better!

As for other things in KDE SC 4.4 beta, I also loved the window grouping feature... when it receives a bit more polish (like showing window content on middle click dragging... oh and an option to make it possible to change it from middle click to something else, I'm not so comfortable with pressing the scroll wheel on my mouse)

Akonadi and Nepomuk are also making huge steps forward. Just a bit more polish, more fixes and most importantly more applications making use of them! It won't be difficult for these technologies to very quickly beat Windows 7's fast search... which brings one thing to my mind...

This is something I miss from KDE, but in my opinion should be easy to do so and beat Windows 7 even harder: making it possible to use the K menu's searchbar as a full fledged KRunner!

But putting everything together I am really comfortable with KDE SC 4.4... I have to admit that the KDE4 series gave me a major departure from it and I used Windows as my primary operating system for a while. But as soon as Linux distributions start to ship the KDE SC 4.4.x with full support, it will be time for me to wipe out Windows again!

Already done.

This is something I miss from KDE, but in my opinion should be easy to do so and beat Windows 7 even harder: making it possible to use the K menu's searchbar as a full fledged KRunner!

The search bar in Lancelot has used KRunner for some time now. ivan, the maintainer of Lancelot, also implemented this feature in the default application launcher (Kickoff) for KDE SC 4.4.

Not all runners (KRunner plugins) are enabled for the menu, however.

He believes that your wish is not an improvement. It's up to him whether he accepts it or not. If he believes you are mistaken he is quite right to mark it wontfix.
