I always hated these warnings KDE up for alerts that are not, are one way you could lose it completely focus on what you are doing.
Please change this, let the notifications less extravagant! See this picture: http://img227.imageshack.us/i/screensho ... tions.png/ This is only 2 notifications at the same time, imagine if it were more! No no, that's too bad! |

That is one big problem what can not be just fixed.
I suggest that you search old blogpost from Seele http://obso1337.org She has talked many times about the usability problems of that topic. And why it is not just so easy thing to do. It is hard to even make choices what notification is important for the user in that time and what should be postponed for later use. |

I'd rather say: That is one of the big usability problems of KDE4 that can not be just fixed. |

In this case it seems to be cased by the profile pictures and thus related to the application (Kopete), as far as I know. If the pictures were scaled down, the notifications would take less vertical space. Recent versions of Plasma Desktop also have support for grouping of notifications, although I'm not quite sure how it works. If you want more subtle notifications, you might want to try Colibri. Note that this makes the popups passive, which means that you can't interact with them.
