... regarding excessive memory usage on systems running KDE.

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issue ... l?id=44455

I have been somewhat bug report happy lately and I also have been trying to reduce my system's memory requirements. Since Chromium accounts for more than half of my system's memory during a typical session, filing this bug report seemed like the next logical step.

What are the chances that Chromium's developers will rewrite Chromium to depend on Qt4 on Linux systems running KDE?

I just came across a mention of rewriting Chromium with Qt on Google's website:

(Linux) Improve KDE support

Contact: Evan Martin (evan@chromium.org)
Areas: C++, KDE, Qt

Though we've made an attempt to work ok with KDE, most of the team uses GNOME so we still have a variety of issues on KDE systems. I'd like to mentor someone who is experienced with KDE through polishing the Chrome experience for KDE users. Aside from that bug list, I'd like to hear other ideas of ways to improve our KDE integration. (Note: rewriting the UI entirely in Qt is way too large for a SoC project.)

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/ ... OfCode2010

While doing a rewrite with Qt is something that was mentioned as being not feasible in a summer of code project, the fact that it is mentioned suggests that it is being considered. There is even an email address that we could probably send questions regarding whether or not this is being done, although if we all were to do that, I am sure that the guy whose email address it is would not be very happy with us.

Anyway, it seems that at least something is being done in this area. :)
