I was helping some people to use KDE4 today, and people who seemed to remember programs by icons always searched System Monitor/Konsole first from the wrong place (under Utilities) in the "Traditional based application menu launcher". I asked about this and they said it was because the Utilities Icon reminded them of the System Monitor/Konsole icon.

It actually does for me too.

Has someone thought the same? Should this be changed? Please vote :-D

What do you think?

Actually it does not only seem so, it IS the system monitor icon. Didn't notice it before. And as system monitor / konsole are under system, i would say, yes, right.

:D good. Because if you would have not, we could have then thought of using the same icon for both menus ... right? :-D

... hmm, then and maybe place the "shut down" button under the start? ... just kidding :D

And again i took a look at the spec and some more on the icons (too late for me to do serious things... :) ). No, these icons are not the same, but veeery similar, so not anymore unsure about my vote. Finally the day was worth it ;)

When KDE 4.0 first came out I mistook it for the terminal icon at a glance and looked in Utilities for Konsole. Yet another reason it should be changed.

I didn't notice this before, but you're right. It should be changed.

So... who would be the right person to talk about this?

Any ideas?

Well, as long as none of the artists visits this thread, you can write to kde-artists@kde.org , of course. And you can also reference this poll ;)

Thank you for leading to right address :-) I'll write them soon.

Ofcourse. That was the main idea to start the poll all along :-)

So far no news. I think actually my mail never even reached their mailing list. Just got stuck in their moderation.

I have started to wonder if they even have one :D

Anyone has a plan B?

I remember when I sent a mail to core-devel, they sat in the moderation queue for at least a week. Perhaps try the generic kde-devel list which I think some of the artists may be subscribed to.

Just remember to mention that you are stuck in the moderation queue for the kde-artists list and someone might prod the right people :-)
