Regressions in Quicklaunch, Keyboard Layout? (KDE 4.4.95)

Hi,

Since I upgraded to KDE 4.4.95, I've noticed that some functionality I had enjoyed before is no longer available. Quicklaunch no longer lets me select the size of my icons, or how many appear in a row. It does what it thinks is best for me based on my launch bar size -- which turns out to be a bunch of too-small icons crowded together in the middle of the bar.

As for Keyboard Layout, a single left-click will no longer immediately toggle my layout. It only invokes a text dialog box (i.e. no flag icons) with a list of layouts to select from. I can see no advantage to a menu with no flags; and the whole dialog box scheme requires a minimum of two clicks to switch layouts, which can't be more efficient than the original toggling method unless the user has enabled four or more layouts! Why must it be imposed on me?

Also in Keyboard Layout, right-click will only invoke that same dialog box, whereas before it gave me configuration options. Those useful settings, like making layout changes per-application only, are apparently just no longer available.

Can I expect these functionalities to return if I upgrade to KDE 4.5?

You should be able to set the "max row count" then check "Force Row Settings".

Thanks, but I can't find any such setting. The only Quicklaunch-specific options I have are the "Show icon names" and "Enable popup" checkboxes, under Quicklaunch Settings | General.

Strange, they are there for me. That probably means they will be there in 4.5.

Hope the same goes for Keyboard Layout!

I've upgraded to KDE 4.5. Unfortunately, Quicklaunch hasn't changed. With Keyboard Layout, left-click now cycles through layouts again (thank you!). But right-click invokes only the list of layouts. There are none of the fine-grained options the applet used to have.
