I want to import KDE 3 menu to KDE 4. I tried kmenuedit, it brings up the kde 3 menu but this is not shown in my actual menu. So how is it possible to import this menu ?

By "KDE 3 Menu" I assume you mean the menu that allowed you to launch applications?
If so, simply try editing the items in KMenuEdit to update them to the KDE 4 specification. You may need to move them around as well.

I am not clear on if you have done so already, but have you switched the menu from the new 'Kickoff' style to the 'Classic' by right-clicking on the Kmenu icon?

OK I finally got it to work, I copied the contents of /opt/kde3/share/applications and /opt/kde3/share/applications/external to /opt/kde/share/applications and ran kbuildsycoca4.
If someone has the same problem, he may add /opt/kde3/share to $XDG_DATA_DIRS and run kbuildsycoca4. |
