Can't compile cmake

Sun Sep 19, 2010 7:58 pm
My system needs to compile cmake from source like KDE but it can not be compiled.
So I discontinued my KDE and app. developments since version 3.5.10 in the hope it will work sometimes.
Is there any autotools and friends version of KDE or have I to go to use only QT in the future ?
Or does KDE thinks about the use of an own make script like QT has ? (this would be the best
because KDE does relay on QT and should use the same mechanisms)
But why has KDE give up the use of autotools and friends - all app. in the linux worl does use it - it is simple, dynamically and very, very portable (PALM, i-phones, mobiles, embedded systems, ...).

I did a search and these were the first results:

Haven't read them yet, but you might find them interesting.

Yes, I read the descussions that time of KDE's make problem where I coudn't see one
and was then surpriced how fast KDE has adopted the change of Alexander Neundorf (Cmake developer) to cmake.
I guessed that it would take more time and discussions If one person wants to do such fundamental changes.
Instead to write some tutorials and documentations of the make process.
Documentation is all and everything in a development team work.
That was/is the only issue I (did) see in the KDE's development.
Qt should be the example for KDE - all is well documented.
KDE should if, do the make process like QT.
If I read the wiki site of cmake I can imagine that with cmake you have thousand times more work like with autotools.
Not implicitly the developer but completely.
I can not compile cmake so I can not see any advantages but disatvantages.
Also some distributions dropped KDE and changed to Enlightenment.
In the moment Enlightenment gets very popular.
