spoovy, I understand your frustration and share your belief that things _should_ be stable after 5 major point releases. Have you made an effort to isolate whether he problem is to do with KDE, your specific hardware, or your other specific software combination? I recommend you go on IRC and find a developer who will work with you to determine the root cause of the problem.
With the help of a developer who is intimate with the codebase of KDE, there are three potential solutions: a) your problem is on your end, and they help you isolate it and perform the necessary fixes. b) the problem is with KDE, and you have contributed to helping numerous other nameless frustrated people who could've also experienced the same problems. A bug, or even more likely multiple bugs will be fixed and hopefully the next version, 4.5.3, or worst case scenario 4.6, will be much better. With a flexible distribution like Arch, you could apply patches yourself. c) the problem is simply bad luck and cannot be fixed. Although this is unfortunate, it is unlikely and will at least highlight certain blind-spots of KDE development. I'm sure alerting the developers of this will help make for a better future KDE. So when you vote with your voice, use your voice by talking to the developers. That's the big difference with open-source - you can talk to the people who make it. Let's take advantage of this difference for the better and not for the worse. I'll see you in IRC chatting to a dev soon then!

Sorry to say, but no, it won't do. That "overhaul" is pure technical, nothing that has to do with usability issues. |
