creating custom toolbar buttons

Thu Dec 23, 2010 9:34 am
Is it possible to somehow make a toolbar button out of a menu entry?

What I'd like to do is to have a custom button in Kate - it would activate this menu entry: Tools >> Highlighting >> Scripts >> PHP (HTML).

As both Menus and Toolbars are usually specified in the XMLGUI based *ui.rc files, this should be possible technically. You will need to find the appropriate ui.rc file first however, these for Kate can be located at $KDEDIR/share/apps/kate or in one of it's sub-directories.

Documentation on the syntax of these files can be found at http://techbase.kde.org

It seems I should actually just tweak filetypes in Kate, so that the correct highlighting would be selected automatically.
