Will someone either explain to this guy why bundling GTK apps in kubuntu would be a bad idea.

I'm sure he's aware. The reason he suggested those Gtk apps was because they're integrated with Ubuntu One. He did go on to explain why they aren't included - because there aren't Qt equivalents yet and the Gtk apps would make the CD image too big.

I actually use to use the Ubuntu Software center in Kubuntu before the latest updates to Kpackagekit were made. I do agree with you, however, that Gtk apps shouldn't be installed by default.
