How about making certain there are no missteps when offering an update? The update to 4.6 impacted window placement and sizing and amarok lost everything from my collection to my playlist, custom lyrics and song ratings. I've also noticed lancelot losing the applications menu after moving away from it then trying to return. Brilliant, NOT!

What are the problems with window sizing and placement? I have not seen these.

It appears to be specific to Sabayon, which may include the issues you're having. They are working on fixes. There's already one you can do here: http://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=22916

I've been seeing a lot of re-drawing oddities, in several different applications, since upgrading to 4.6. Also the konsole has been playing up a bit.

I've also seen some strange things appearing since upgrading to 4.6. I don't see many other posts about this. Maybe I did something wrong.

Amarok is not a part of KDE Software Compilation, it has its own release schedule - or in a nutshell, it is not a part of KDE SC 4.6.

Also, my Amarok is working nicely with KDE4.6. SO it has to be either distro related or of your doing...
