Am I missing something, or did the new kdepim (with Kontact based on Akonadi) not make it in 4.6.1? I don't see anything mentioned about it in the changelog.

True, no pim as yet
![]() As for LinuxMint - you may have to wait a bit until your devs patch it to their liking.

Am I the only person who is furious with the lack of communication regarding the status of KDE PIM? I am fine with being conservative about releasing it, but why no communication? I've seen companies in west and northwest US be more open about status. Given the importance of KDE PIM and the focus which it has garnered since it's omission from 4.5, I think this non-communication in the lead up to 4.6.1 is a failure of KDE.

Yeah, I'm not happy about it either. It really needs the update, and I've been hearing snippets about it since 2009, but recently I've seen very little news about its progress. I'd expect to hear more since hopefully it's getting near completion.

Final KDE PIM 4.6 is now planned with release of KDE 4.6.2:

Thanks for posting that. Well, they've lost credibility. It's been planned since 4.5.0. ![]() Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there's discussion, I'm just not getting my hopes up is all. I've been getting my hopes up since 4.5.0. |

In my opinion they had a big problem: prefering completion of KDE PIM Mobile prior to finishing Desktop version (mainly KMail and migration) without public announcement or admission of this blocking situation. So development work on desktop version was minimal, but now PIM Mobile is almost done, so is finally time for finishing of desktop version. |

Interesting. I absolutely value that developers have freedom to develop their heart's desire - I hope that discussion doesn't come from this. I do some software engineering and development for a company, and I value that freedom. I also agree that KDE PIM on mobile is a valuable proposition, and that the window of opportunity to be amongst the first in that arena is probably small. I just hope that there would be some transparencies so that we, as end users, have a clue about what to expect. |

May I ask: where is KDE PIM 4.6 RC1? According to that schedule and to what appears in the KDE PIM mailing lists, it should be out. But I can't see it anywhere, and it appears to be ready (at least from my impressions when I cloned the Git trunk and compiled it last week)

After a lengthy five hour download I am amazed by the speed of 4.6.1. Got to watch it over time, but this is very pleasant.
