Proud to tell that Mageia brought in 4.6.1 right away into their alpha-version.

No, you're not the only one. I agree with you every word, and I'm quite sure all users who were waiting for this do. This is not about postponing KDE PIM once again.. I can live with that. If it's not ready, it isn't... although I do think that setting realistic release deadlines is not exactly what KDE does best. What is almost unforgivable here is what you so rightly mention: a complete lack of open communication, something we all expect from an open source project. |

Although I'll admit you have a valid point- you have to remember that most of the open source community is made up up real people with real lives, real families, and real jobs. A good portion of developers probably work with computers for a living- Imagine working an 8-10 hour day with computers, THEN you get to come home and work for FREE software package(s). It would be nice to see any announced software be released when it's originally slated to be released, but you need to remember that this is a community of people who VOLUNTEER their time. If its late by 3-4 days it's no skin off my back. Please give them a break- they work hard enough as it is. We should be thanking them for the amazing steps forward that have been made since the first v4.x releases. Not condemning them for being a few days late! I would rather wait a few days so they get it right, rather than release it early and have a never ending stream of bug reports and problems till the next release. Thanks for the new release Devs. I hope it's everything (and more) I was hoping for. |

This is not gospel truth, but what I believe to be true from what I have read (which is quite a lot). 4.6.1 works well for some, but others have experienced catastrophic migration problems. As far as I know this is still under investigation, and the devs are advising caution - not installing yet into important working systems.
Remember, this is not a Kontact developer speaking - I could be totally wrong about the reasons.

Do you mean KDE SC 4.6.1 or kdepim 4.6.1?
