I want to install kastrolog.

The instruction state that ....
4.3) If your qt directory is not /usr/local/lib/qt, then "export
QTDIR=<your qt directory>"
4.4) If your kde directory is not /opt/kde, then "export KDEDIR=<your
kde directory>"

I have 2 questions.
1) why isn't the qt and kde where they are supposed to be?
2) how do I decide which folder kastrolog is asking for?

Any takers? Oh heck that is three.

On Kubuntu, the KDEDIR and QTDIR are both /usr/
