I've been using Linux on the desktop for over 10 years now. I tried KDE 3.x several times in the past but what always bothered me was Konqueror as the file browser. Good web browser but I always thought it was lacking as a file browser so I would usually just go back to WindowMaker in the past and switched to GNOME when it started to mature. I am a long time Debian user and started using Ubuntu to get faster software updates while still having Debian under the hood, but after the most recent release of Ubuntu, 11.04, and the horrible debacle that is Unity, I decided to give KDE a try again. I'm currently running KDE 4.6.2 and I have to say I'm really impressed. I like how integrated everything is (unlike GNOME and Unity which feel like a patchwork of apps just slapped together), looks good with all kinds of great eye candy and has better performance than Unity did. Plus I like how I have total control over how my desktop is configured rather than treating the users like their idiots like Unity does. Needless to say, I'm sticking with KDE from now on. Can't wait for KDE 4.7.

Cool to hear, and welcome! If you haven't already, I hope you'll also discover the nice community that is KDE.
