Thanks for saving me from the fiasco that is GNOME 3.0
After being a gnome user since late 90's, it was very easy to become productive under the latest KDE desktop. Not sure if it was always like this, but as a new user, and what currently became of Gnome, I wont be going back. |

Have to echo the sentiments of mbudwick. It is nice to have options, and KDE is most definitely the way to go at this point.

I agree. KDE is the way to go now that gnome3 is going the way of unity. I tried both and absolutely hated them. So now I'm a KDE transplant. ![]() |

LOL I like it so far. I'm getting used to it quickly. I did change the kicker menu to be the classic style as I do not like the regular version at all. |

Just curious, where do people get the name "kicker" from? Kicker was the panel in KDE3 and isn't present in the 4 series at all. The menu is called Kickoff (which does sound similar to Kicker). Just wondered if users who think it's called Kicker used KDE3 at some point, or if they learn it somewhere else. ![]() By the way, there are some other menu alternatives out there, most notorious Lancelot - you might want to give it a try if you want a more advanced menu with search function etc. Personally I don't use a menu at all since I launch all my apps etc. with keyboard shortcuts and KRunner (Alt+F2).

I am pretty much brand new to KDE. I heard it called the kicker so that's what I thought it was called. Hmm I'll check out Lancelot, thanks
