Hi all, I am new to KDE and must firstly say I am very impressed with this beautiful desktop.

I see a lot of discussion about Akonadi and Nepomuk etc. What exactly are these things with the weird names? How do they benefit me?

OK, thanks. Had a look at those links. The nepomuk app seems interesting. I am currently not using any app that uses akonadi though.

Yes, KDE rocks. I don't think there's a better designed desktop around right now.

For what it's worth, you can use or not use nepomuk; it's disable-able in the "System Settings / Desktop Search" preferences, if you don't need it.
