This is a question one of my friends asked me because the firm she is working in wanted to increase the popularity of linux for their business purpose.

One point I suggested was that....

Show people that Linux is as good as windows on desktop especially with the desktop interface.

These were my reasons...

1. The popularity of an OS on Personal Computer drives its popularity among PC users. (ex: windows on PC and linux on servers). Despite linux being very popular on servers it lags behind when it comes to mass popularity.

2. Present users with a pleasing interface (for god's sake not those boring, monotone brick wall like gnome icons and menus).

3. I have friends who switched over from windows just because they saw a much pleasing GUI on my opensuse 11.4 with KDE 4.6.

Please put in your views..
