I was just messing with klipper's definable actions: you can map some action to a regular expression match on the selected text. I was able to easily create one to parse the log files from an application I'm working on, and load the file and function mentioned in the log file into my text editor. That's cool!
That's the difference between a desktop made for drooling idiots, and one that isn't so dumbed down that things like that are hard or impossible. Go ahead, try the same thing in... anything else really. Windows. Gnome. Mac. Sure, you might be able to code up some entire application to do the same thing, but in KDE it was right there under my fingertips. That's why I like KDE. It doesn't treat me like a moron, hiding concepts like "regular expressions" and "launching scripts" from me because, hey, computers are scary and should be made no more complex than my toaster. I hope that doesn't change, because KDE is really about the only good desktop left after the rest of them appear to be chasing after the Facebook crowd who is frightened by thinking and wants advanced features removed so they don't have to be afraid. So, Kudos to KDE. |

I really like the look and customization. I was putting so much effort into gnome to get nice looks and transparency. I came back to kde, and I had little effort to make to do the same!
