Hi,

Recently updated to 64bit kubuntu 12.04 (as a clean install, previously using 11.10 with no problem).

Using k3b Version 2.0.2 (Using KDE Development Platform 4.8.3 (4.8.3))
I have "libk3b6-extracodecs" and "kubuntu-restricted-extras" installed.

I now have a problem with k3b triggering a system notification message every time it starts:

Extra packages can be installed to enhance functionality for K3B.

Install Packages
MP3 Encoding.

After authorisation: Package successfully installed.

Any ideas ?

the extracodecs are only for decoding (look at the file list), you possibly don't have the appropriate encoding packages see viewtopic.php?f=19&t=100710#p216576

Hi,

Thanks,

I have the lame packages installed:
lame
libmp3lame.so.0
libmp3lame.so.0.0.0
libtwolame.so.0
libtwolame.so.0.0.0

Sorry, should also have said that k3b works, i.e. encodes and decodes to mp3.

It's just triggering the unnessessary system notification. I'm considering using the "Never show again" option from the System notification helper drop down menu, but it would be good to find the actual cause of the message.

I would post on Kubuntu's bugzilla or their forum as this is some kind of a packaging issue.

Hi,

Thanks, yes, I've now seen a few reports elsewhere of this happening. It looks like it's specific to kubuntu.
