Dear K3b users,
I have some issues with famous K3b burning program. I have never had a chance to try K3b out because it always hangs on my Mint (v14 KDE 64-bit). :(
My environment:
K3b: 2.0.2
QT: 4.8.3
KDE: 4.10.4

Last time I tried to fire it up from terminal (console). And then it says:

"QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication.
Application may misbehave.
KGlobal : : locale( ) Warning your gloal KLocal is being recreated with a valid main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to call il8n related functions before your main component was created. You should not do that since it most likely will not work. "

Afterwards it freezes (so that I have to reset the computer)... What's up, what is going on ? :(
Reinstalling K3b (in Synaptic manager or similar tool) didn't help me.

P.S. I have used another burning software in my linux system and it works without any problems...

Can you please provide more information on the system freeze?
Is it is a soft lock (ie. does the caps lock still respond, or is the disk thrashing) or is it a hard lock (ie. caps lock light flashing, no hardware activity)?

I am sorry to write back so late...
I guess it was real hard freeze (with no hardware activity!) :-\
And it happened many times, unfortunately...
In the meantime I was forced to use another burning software for Linux.

So what to do now??? :o

This is quite unusual - K3b does not do anything too special, so it should not be able to cause the system to hang. Are you able to make your way to the K3b configuration, or is it inaccessible?

If it is inaccessible, can you try to reproduce this issue under a new user?

Well, maybe K3b doesn't like my plain hardware... but other burning software is usable but (likely) not as convenient as K3b could be.

Last week I have installed new version of Mint (#15, kde 64-bit) but the problem still exists. :(
Computer hangs immediately and I cannot do anything except booting it again, so how can I get the k3b config ???
I may try to add new user but I am not sure it will clear things up.

Okay, that is quite unfortunate. If a new user still does not work, there is little that can be done unless you can determine why the kernel is entering a panic situation.

It's me again...
Nowadays I use Linux Mint 16 KDE 64-bit editon. Everything there works well except... K3b of course. :o :(
Every try to run and use it causes system hangup. Should I post what I get in console when running it?
The whole situation is weird as on Windows (NERO) burning isn't problematic... So, I don't know what's up, what is going on. :'(

Well, of course!
Yesterday I successfully burnt one DVD using Brasero. :)
Once I was lucky with Silicon Empire as well.

I heard that K3b is the best and finest CD/DVD burner for Linux system so I would like
to try it if possible...
So... how do you comment in this situation? :o
