I'm trying to use k3b to rip audio cd's to mp3. And so far it seems to be working just fine. BUT, I have a few important questions.
1: Where can I find documentation on what the ripped file pattern codes are? (%A=Album, %T=Title, %n=track number I'm assuming)
2: The default pattern is "%A - %T/%n - !a='%A'{%a - }%t" I think I understand it right up until the !a, what does that represent, and what is the point of the equal sign and the data after that?
3: How can I save my own standard ripped file pattern as the default pattern so I don't have to paste it each time? Also, how can I change the default format to mp3 so I don't have to change that in the dropdown each time?

Click on "See special strings" in the ripping window's "File Naming" tab.

Click on "About conditional inclusion" in the ripping window's "File Naming" tab.

Click on the floppy symbol in the bottom-left of the window. You can load a configuration with the button next to it.
Thank you, those seem really obvious now. I DID try clicking the save button. I was assuming that would change the default, not that I needed to click the load button every time. Still, really obvious now.

Well, there is an option named "Default action dialog settings" in K3B's settings (Misc):
Set this to "Saved Settings", and the dialog should automatically have those settings that you saved with the save button. With "Last Used Settings" the dialog should open with those settings that you set the last time. And "Default Settings" will always switch it back to the default obviously (this is probably what you have configured now).
This setting also applies to all other dialogs then, of course.
