Hello,
In K3b LAME mp3 encoder settings -> Advanced, there is a quality setting. Is this exactly the same as the lame -q qual parameter, 0<=qual<=9 ? The lower qual is, the better the quality; the lame man page recommends q=2 I am wondering if the value on the interface is 9-q, as the default is 7. On the interface, 'high quality' is on the right and 'fast encoding' on the left.

I don't get it, seems pretty straight forward to me.

The tooltip says it relates to "noise shaping and psycho-acoustic algorithm" so this seems to correspond to the lame -q parameter. The lame man page explains that q=2 is better than q=5 which is better than q=9. So, are you certain that a higher value on k3b's interface gives a better quality, as if it was 9-q and not q ? I have not found documentation on this. |

Since I don't use mp3s I wouldn't have a clue! However, you may find this useful: https://scottlinux.com/2013/10/09/lame- ... s-for-k3b/

This link talks about another mp3 encoder backend in k3b, the one in which the lame command-line is edited directly. The setting about which I have a question is the' k3b lame encoder', which is more user-friendly. |
