Burning an audio CD with mp3 files

Tue Jan 27, 2015 6:03 pm
While creating an audio CD project, whenever I choose mp3 files for my project, I get an error message stating, "Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:". My queries are -
1) Does K3b not support the mp3 format yet ?
2) Is changing format from mp3 to wav the only way to burn audio CDs with K3b ?
3) If the answer to 2) is yes, then, which is the best tool to convert mp3 to wav for Linuxmint maya ?

Thanks in advance.

iirc an "audio cd project" is .wav only, you would just do a "new data project" for mp3's

for audio conversions I use soundKonverter but also have Dolphin servicemenus (I have 2 - PACPL and another that I can't remember where its from)

K3b does support creating AudioCDs from mp3 files.
But you need to have its mp3 decoder plugin installed.

I have no idea about Mint, but in openSUSE this is contained in the package k3b-codecs.
This should help you though:

(i.e. the package you need to install is called libk3b*-extracodecs apparently)
