Running openSUSE LEAP 42.1 with plasma5 desktop and trying to find best ripper for classical collection ripping to flac.

So far K3b has given best results but it rips tracks straight to a designated directory. It does not create a new "album" directory to contain the ripped tracks like asunder and XCFA.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong? How may I add this facility please?

never used K3b for ripping, have you tried soundKonverter or Audex?

Hi and thanks for the reply. I cannot find suitable version of soundKonverter or for that matter KaudioCreator. If you know of repo where I can get version which will run on openSUSE LEAP 42.1 please let me know.
I am trying Audex as I type. It may be the best yet, although less convenient than K3b.
Any ideas on answer to my original question?

soundKonverter is in the Extra repo

KaudioCreator is not available for Leap in the std repos but there are 13.2 and Tumbleweed packages https://software.opensuse.org/package/kaudiocreator you could try or you can compile it

fyi - try https://software.opensuse.org/search# for openSUSE packages includes non-std user generated repos

ps - Audex is the most full featured imho

pss - no idea re your original as I haven't tried it for cds

Hi and many thanks. Since my last post I have been having more success with Audex. Almost there with it now. Only one strange thing, I have been doing the trials on two machines which AFAIK are the same and I am getting different results from freedb look up. Will clear cache and start over. On balance I agree with you and thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

if you have both Musicbrainz and freedb lookup enabled .......

both pcs use freedb servers freedb.org and not cddb (assuming it can be used)

freedb is set to to use random servers I believe, though this shouldn't matter unless it was a new release or the servers not in sync

Erased my local cache and all now is OK.
Thanks again,
