Hi,
I am using K3b in Ubuntu 12.04. Last week, I changed the sorting of files in the "Open..." dialog to 'Date' and 'Descencing'. Now I can't change back the sorting to 'Name' and ascending order, which was the default when the program was installed. Every time I open a saved project, I try to change the settings, but K3b are not saving those options. I also tried to compare ~/.kde/share/config/k3brc from 4 different systems, but didn't find anything. Any idea why only the first change (from 'Name' to 'Date') was saved? Thank you |

It's saved in ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals.
No, I don't see that here. It works as expected... Did you run k3b or any other application as root maybe (e.g. with sudo)? That might cause the config file being owned by root and preventing the normal user to modify it. |

wolfi323,
Thank you for the quick response.
Ok. I will check the affected system and test this solution.
No, I didn't. But I will verify the permissions. |

wolfi323,
The solution seems to work, but with some details: - First, I checked the permissions. Nothing unusual. All the files are owned by my user. - I made a backup copy of the file (kdeglobals) and started K3b. - Then, proceeded to change the sorting parameters in the 'Open...' Dialog. - Using diff, I could see that the file was altered. The lines with the sorting instructions were different from the backup. - Closed K3b. - Made a new check with diff. No difference. The file reverted to the "wrong" sorting when K3b was closed. - Edited the file manually. - Started K3b and the sorting was "correct". Thanks for your help. If someone with the same problem is reading this post: I am sorry, but I don't have a explanation to this behaviour, only some instructions that could help. |
