K3B on Linux Mint 19 doesn't accept WAV files

I'm helping a friend move from Windows to Linux and all is basically going well except that K3B on Linux Mint 19 64bit Intel is having headaches.

K3b version 17.12.3 on Linux Mint 19 64 bit running on Dell Intel based notebook.

When I try to add WAV (or MP3) files to an Audio CD project I get the following error:
Problems while adding files to the project.
With Details:
Unable to handle the following files due to an unsupported format:
Text about manually converting to wave using another app, but this happens with WAV files.
The name of the file being added to the project.

I've searched for solutions to this issue on Google and here as well as the Linux Mint forums. I found some quite old topics with a similar error for MP3 files, and on Mint 18.x I had resolved this issue by installing libwavpack1 and libk3b6-extracodecs

But those two packages, or variants, don't appear to be present in Mint 19.
Brasero burns Audio CDs with no issues with the same WAV (and MP3) files but no joy with K3B.

K3B would definitely be easier for him to use coming from Windows.

Has anyone seen this issue, and if so how did you resolve it? Is this a case of something that is missing from the Mint repo, or has something changed with

Thanks,
Burt

Got the answer from the Linux Mint forum, or at least a suggestion that led to the solution.

The issue was the Software Manager didn't list libk3b7-extracodecs but using Synaptic DOES offer the extracodecs, and installing that package got it working just fine.

So if anyone else has a similar issue that's something to try.
